Igone de Jongh is shocked by the facts that came out during the sex case against her ex-husband Thijs Römer. The 43-year-old ballet dancer writes this down on Sunday Instagram.
“Facts have come out that I do not support in any way and that are far from my norms and values,” says De Jongh, who has remained silent since Römer’s conviction. “My heart is torn apart. I need time to process this and go strong alone.”
In August, Römer was sentenced to three months in prison, two of which were suspended, and 240 hours of community service for misconduct with three underage girls. The online sexual offenses were committed in the period from the end of 2015 to the end of 2017. Both the 45-year-old actor and the Public Prosecution Service (OM) have appealed against the verdict.
De Jongh and Römer got into a relationship in 2016, and in November 2019 they tied the knot. In January of this year, De Jongh already announced that she had broken off her relationship with Römer, as a result of the allegations against him.
In June, the ballet dancer more or less came back to this in an interview with Wilfred Genee in the BNR radio program The Friday Move. Römer and De Jongh have since been spotted together, but it was unclear whether they were a couple again.
Katja Schuurman, who has a child with Römer, already responded to the case against her ex at the end of August. “As a mother, as a woman and as a human being, I can’t help but have a deep pain about some of her father’s behavior and some of the choices,” Schuurman refers to their daughter Sammie. “Because he’s my daughter’s father, I’ll never let him down.”
