Igo in a duet with Katrīna Dimantas public humorous ethno-rock song – Music

In an Igo duet with singer Katrīna Dimantas, he has written a humorous and summery ethno-rock song “Redzēj ‘guy, saw’ daughter”. The author of the song’s music is Jānis Strazds, but the name is Igo himself.

The beginning of cooperation between Igo and Jānis Strazdas can be traced back to the turn of the century. Over the years, a lot of music has been written together, but in 2010 a large-scale concert program “Fire” was created with a great influence on folk music. Both also play postetno in the ensemble “Vējturi”. The creation of the new song “Seeing a Guy, Seeing a Daughter” in the ethno-rock style was inspired by Igo in the collection of poetry “The sky is hot”. “Igo is a good master of the word, and here he has created the stylization of a folk song, being on the verge of naughty, with the ease that is needed for summer and the solstice. Katrīna, on the other hand, brings authenticity to the song with her joy of life. The result is a humorous song that will hopefully bring lightness and a sense of celebration throughout the summer, ”says composer Jānis Strazds.

Igo reveals: “In my poetry collection” The sky is hot “, Jānis found thematically related verses about apples, daughters and boys, and suggested that an ethno-rock composition could be created. We started thinking about the need for a strong female voice, and we thought of Katrina. The recording process showed that this choice was infallible – Katrīna understood the idea very well and got involved wonderfully in the process. To become a “Seeing a guy, saw a ‘daughter”, I had to write down another third of the text, because the book had only a beginning and an end. Interestingly, this poem has already been printed, is so frivolous and clumsy in nature, and I now had to find the same lines of feelings as I did six or seven years ago. Feel that hooligan humor again, and that’s how this song came to us. “

“I used to know Igo as a great artist. We had talked to “you”. This year our communication was opened by the “Multimākslas” fairs, with which we travel around Latvia, talking, having fun and singing – I play ukulele, but Igo harmonica. All this has led us to this cool and heretical cooperation. I hope that in the future we will continue our cooperation, because I want to create and perform good, danceable music, ”says Katrīna Dimanta.
