Ignored by Gojek, Gosend Driver Strikes Again Today

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Jabodetabek Gosend Driver Association plans to hold another strike on June 29 and 30, 2021. This is the second off bid action related to the reduction in the number of incentives for drivers.

This strike plan was confirmed directly by the representative of the Jabodetabek Gosend Driver Association, Yulian. He said that until now there has been no response from Gojek.

“That’s right. The reason is still the same as yesterday. Because until now Gojek has not responded,” Yulian told CNBC Indonesia. Tuesday (29/6/2021).

He said that around 90% of Gosend drivers throughout Jabodetabek will carry out this strike.

Previously, a number of drivers also took off bid actions on June 8 to 10. Yulian also admitted that since then there had been no chats with Gojek at all.

“Nothing at all,” he said.

In an official statement from the Jabodetabek Gosend Drivers Association, it was stated that the conflict in the relationship between Gokilat drivers in the area and Bandung and Gojek continues to this day. The trigger was the company’s unilateral policy to reduce incentives for GoKilat drivers.

“We from the Jabodetabek Gosend Driver Association strongly reject the unilateral policy of reducing incentives for Gokilat drivers. Therefore, a decrease in incentives means a decrease in income for drivers, which of course will keep us and our families from living a decent life,” the statement said.

They also said the average delivery was only around 11.23 deliveries per day. In the latest incentive scheme, they only get Rp. 22 thousand, whereas the website incentive gets Rp. 45 thousand and thus drivers claim to lose net income of Rp. 23 thousand.

In this strike, the Gosend Drivers Association throughout Jabodetabek has three demands on the Gojek company, namely:

1. Revoke the new incentive application policy dated June 8, 2021, return the old incentive.
2. Set the minimum basic tariff in accordance with Permenhub KP No. 348 Year 2020
3. Clarify the relationship between online drivers and the Gojek company, if it’s a partnership, then run it
principles of equal and mutually beneficial partnership. If the labor-employer relationship, then
formal workers’ rights must be enforced.

In addition, they also made demands on the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. One of them is to provide reasonable tariffs for all online drivers who provide food, passenger and goods delivery services.

Here are three demands on the Indonesian government.

1. Provide protection and justice for Indonesian citizens who work as online drivers by setting appropriate tariffs for online drivers, both for food delivery, between passengers, and between goods. Without a decent rate, there is no decent income, so the lives of online drivers and their families are at risk.
2. Sanction online application companies in the field of transportation/delivery/delivery of goods that do not provide justice and decent income and do not comply with the law, otherwise, there will be a tariff war between them, and the facts on the ground, the party who is harmed is the online driver.
3. Provide a legal umbrella regarding the work process in this online transportation/logistics industry, if the relationship is a partnership, then run and uphold the principles of a fair and equal partnership. If the relationship is an employee’s employment relationship with the employer, then our rights to minimum wages, decent working hours, etc. must be fulfilled.

CNBC Indonesia has also tried to contact Gojek to ask for a response to this issue. However, there has been no response from Gojek to the request.
