On May 22, the second Grand Slam tournament will start this year – Roland Garros. We will see five on the Paris courts representatives of Poland. Men will appear in the main ladder Hubert Hurkacz and Kamil Majchrzak. Among women there will be Magda Linette, Magdalena Fręch and of course Iga Świątek.

The 20-year-old is a big favorite of the upcoming tournament. It has already triumphed in it once, in 2020. Now it is in an outstanding form. She won five tournaments WTA in a row – in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart and Rome. She became the leader of the world ranking. Won 28 matches in a row. No wonder all eyes are on her.

Emotions about Roland Garros started earlier. First of all – qualifications for the main tournament are underway, but they did not work out as expected by the Poles. Secondly – the draw was held on Thursday. We got to know the first rivals of the Poles and their potential opponents in the next rounds.
Iga Świątek will start with a match with a qualifier. We know the Roland Garros ladder
Iga ¦wi±tek for the first time in history it was seeded in grand slam tournament with “one”. She was matched to the competitor who will advance to the tournament by qualification. If Świątek makes it through the first round, he will play against Riske Alison (42nd WTA) or Dajana Jastremska (80th WTA). Only in the third round, Świątek can find another seeded player. It may be Ludmila Samsonowa (26th WTA).
In the 1/8 finals, Iga Świątek may face Simona Halep (19th WTA). If it is also dealt with, it will be among the potential rivals Shelfs in the quarter-finals are: Jelena Ostapenko (13th WTA), Jessica Pegula (11th WTA), Tamara Zidansek (25th WTA), Ekaterina Aleksandrowa (31st WTA) and Karolina Pliskova (8th WTA). The most dangerous rival of the Polish woman in her part of the bracket is the third racket in the world, Paul Bados. However, Świątek can only find it in the semi-finals. In this phase of the tournament, Iga can face two players from the top ten – Danielle Collins (9th WTA) and Aryna Sabalenka (7th WTA). On the other side of the ladder there are, among others, Maria Sakkari (4th WTA), Anett Kontaveit (5th WTA) and last year’s champion Barbora Krejcikowa (2nd WTA). These tennis players can meet Iga only in the final.
The same is the case with the last “victim” of Świątek, that is Ons Jabeur (6th WTA). Polish fans however, they hope that Tunisia will be eliminated in the first round. Why? Because her rival will be Magda Linette (56th WTA). Magdalena Fręch (86th WTA) was also not lucky, as she also found a seeded competitor, namely Angelique Kerber (22nd WTA), the former leader of the ranking.
