Blåvitt has had a heavy spring behind him. The team is parked in a qualifying spot before the Allsvenskan restart, a big reason for this is the team’s insufficient goal production.
The club is therefore chasing offensive reinforcements during the transfer window, during Friday they also presented the Danish winger Thomas Santos.
The team also seems to be looking for a ninth. In mid-June, Sportbladet reported that Astrit Selmani was on the list. Now he confirms that he has been in contact with the club.
– There has been interest. There has been some small talk at the beginning of June, but nothing directly concrete. It has mostly been to check the situation. A couple of other Allsvenskan clubs have checked the situation, but there is nothing concrete. I am open to the Allsvenskan. The most important thing for me is to find joy and play again, but I haven’t had to decide on anything concrete. Many have called and been interested, but I have given everyone the same answer – that I am open to Allsvenskan and abroad, he says to Expressen.
“Isn’t a secret”
Selmani belongs to Israeli Hapoel Beer Sheva but tells Expressen that this may very well soon change.
– It is no secret that both myself and the club are looking at a solution. I have one year left on my contract. They have started their pre-season and I may go there next week but there is no stress there either. We are looking at different possibilities to solve the situation, he says.
Selmani had his big breakthrough in Varberg, during his Allsvenskan debut season he accounted for 15 goals before being sold to Hammarby. He took the step from there to Israel but spent the end of last season on loan in Danish Midtjylland.
He says that he would like to stay abroad – but that the Allsvenskan is not a shame either.
– It is important to think about the family. You can’t just take any project. Of course I’m open to abroad, but it has to be a good vision and club. Nothing last minute. As long as there is a plan for me, I’m interested. I want to find the joy and match form that I know I have in me. It’s starting to happen a bit now and moving, but as long as I don’t have anything on the table, I’m open to everything, he says.
IFK Gothenburg starts the autumn season when they visit Halmstad on Sunday.
