IFK Göteborg defeated Utsikten
IFK Göteborg was forced to change goalkeepers already in the first half in the cup opener against Utsiktens BK.
It was Pontus Dahlberg who had to throw in the towel after he received a blow to the leg.
Despite the injuries, Blåvitt got off to a dream start in the cup and won the match 3–2.
IFK Göteborg got off to a good start in the cup opener against Utsiktens BK on Monday evening.
The home team won 3–2 after goals from Eman Markovic, Hussein Carneil and newly acquired Elias Hagen.
But despite the victory, there is some concern about goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg, who was forced to leave the field in the first half.
An early lead goal
It was an offensive Gothenburg that started the match.
Already in the third minute, Blåvitt was close to a 1-0 goal when newly acquired Elias Hagen received the ball outside the penalty area and fired a rock-hard shot into the crossbar.
After twelve minutes, Eman Markovic struck and could give the home team the lead after his shot on goal found its way behind Utsikten goalkeeper Hossin Lagoun.
Utsikten responded immediately and was about to score an equalizing goal after a corner. In connection with the goal chance, Pontus Dahlberg was stepped on the hand and received a blow to the foot.
After several minutes of medical attention, he continued playing.
But when Utsikten equalized through Albin Skoglund a few minutes later, the Blåvitt goalkeeper received another blow and was forced to be replaced.
Left the plan for own machine
The Gothenburg goalkeeper is replaced by Adam Benediktsson, who guarded the blue and white posts for the rest of the match.
The status of Dahlberg’s injury is unclear, but the goalkeeper left the field on his own.
However, the change of goalkeeper did not seem to affect Gothenburg, who responded by making it 3-1 in the final minutes of the first half.
Substitute Benediktsson conceded a goal in the second half, but Utsikten failed to beat the home team and the match ended 3-2 to IFK Göteborg.
The next match waiting for IFK Gothenburg in the Swedish Cup is against GAIS next Sunday.
