Earlier this autumn, IFK Göteborg finalized a new left-back in the form of Anders Trondsen, and now also choose to extend the contract with left-back Oscar Wendt, 37, beyond 2023.
– I want to give something back to the club and the team. Both on and off the field. If we put it all together, as I hope, we will have a really good 2023. We have to raise the bar in several areas to reach a higher level next season, and we all know what is required of us, says Wendt in a comment on the club’s website.
Wendt hopes to compete in several positions next season.
– We have good breadth in the squad and we’re learning to fill up on forwards. For my part, I will contribute in whatever way is needed and where it is needed. The demands are and should be high, even for those of us who are more experienced. I want to take on a big responsibility, among other things, to raise many of our young players. I want to do this by being a drug dealer and a gamer who is involved and making demands every day, in everything we do.
This year, Wendt was noted for 28 Allsvenskan appearances. He returned to Blåvitt from German Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2021.
