“iFixit Shares Teardown of Apple Vision Pro Mixed Reality Headset”

iFixit, the popular repair website, has recently shared a detailed teardown of the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. This teardown, available in both written and video formats, provides an inside look into the internal components of the headset.

Upon disassembling the Vision Pro, iFixit discovered various internal components, including an array of cameras and sensors, fans, lens motors, and more. It comes as no surprise that opening and repairing this high-tech device will prove to be a challenging task.

In an email statement, iFixit expressed their concerns about the repairability of the Vision Pro, particularly highlighting the EyeSight feature. They described it as a “repair Achilles’ heel” due to its numerous potential points of failure. However, they did acknowledge Apple’s effort in making certain components easily replaceable, such as the speakers and battery.

Underneath its sleek exterior, the Vision Pro is powered by Apple’s M2 chip. This powerful chip boasts an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, and 16GB of unified memory. Additionally, the headset offers up to 1TB of storage. One standout feature is the all-new R1 chip, which processes input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones. This advanced technology ensures that users experience content that appears right in front of their eyes.

Prior to iFixit’s teardown, Wallpaper* magazine had already provided readers with an exclusive glimpse into the internals of the Vision Pro. As part of an interview with Apple’s vice president of software design, Alan Dye, and vice president of hardware design, Richard Howarth, Wallpaper* shared an image showcasing the intricate design of the headset.

During the interview, Howarth explained that Apple focused on incorporating flexible materials and soft textures into the Vision Pro’s design. The Solo Knit Band, for example, was specifically chosen to provide both physical comfort and an enjoyable experience for users when wearing the headset around others.

The Apple Vision Pro was launched in the United States on Friday, with plans for availability in other countries later this year. This highly anticipated mixed reality headset is set to revolutionize the way users interact with digital content, offering a seamless and immersive experience.

With its advanced internal components, sleek design, and innovative features, the Apple Vision Pro is poised to make a significant impact in the world of mixed reality. As users eagerly await its arrival in their respective countries, it’s clear that Apple has once again pushed the boundaries of technology and delivered a product that combines both form and function.
