The Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs announces:
Due to the expected weather situation with permafrost and snowfall, Berlin is expanding its offers for homeless people.
In a hostel on Boxhagener Strasse in Friedrichshain, 100 places are available day and night for homeless people from 6 p.m. on Saturday.
A 24/7 facility with 100 places will open on the site of the former Karl Bonhoeffer Nervenklinik in Reinickendorf.
From Tuesday the number of seats will be increased to 200.
A hostel on Köpenicker Straße in Kreuzberg that is open 24/7 increases the existing capacity of 100 places by a further 20 places, including places for homeless wheelchair users.
There are currently 1,090 emergency overnight places available in the existing refrigeration aid facilities. Last week 121 remained free.
In the city area there are currently 5 buses with social workers in outreach aid to support homeless people and to bring them to institutions.
