L’argento it is one of the main precious metals, known and recognizable even in the collective imagination. With other forms of chemical elements such as gold it constitutes the restricted group of resources that are formally accepted everywhere in the economic sphere and that can boast an important even conceptual power. In fact, for millennia silver has been appreciated for practically unique characteristics, such as a shiny appearance, an important resistance to chemical and atmospheric agents, to which a certain ductility during the processing phase must be added.
Mysterious metal
The role of silver was also strongly symbolic, and also associated with very ancient cults and rites (generally the metal is still associated today with mysterious contexts and it is no coincidence that the associated symbol is that of the Moon). Compared to a few centuries ago, silver has suffered a significant loss of economic value, and despite being very present in economies (it is still today a safe haven to all intents and purposes) almost all of the silver produced each year is destined for non-financial / economic uses, as for practical ones.
It is indispensable for various sectors, such as the photovoltaic one, given the high reflective power, accentuated by polishing, but it is also highly appreciated in electronics for its great conductive power. Strongly exploited also in medicine and in many very specific industries, even if, as easily understood, the same purity is not used for every form of processing.
If you have 800 silver you are filthy rich: this is what it is worth
An example is 800 silver, which is made up of 80% pure silver and 20% copper. Usually silver of this type is used for objects such as large silverware but also electronic media. Even the 800 silver, recognizable by “800” present in an oval on each specimen (if instead there are the words “ARG” and “Silver” Plated “it means that the silver is only plated and therefore has no economic value) is absolutely salable as a precious metal, currently the value is estimated at around 440-465 euros per kilo.
