“If you get the chance, you want to take it”

Kalmar FF striker Nils Fröling, 21, was injured this year and accounted for four goals and four assists in 27 appearances in the Allsvenskan. Under Henrik Rydström’s leadership, KFF also had a great season and finished in sixth place in the series.

Fröling is now looking back on a good season for the Småland team.

– I am very pleased with how the team performed and how we approached the Allsvenskan this season. It has been a very good season, he says to Fotbollskanalen.

The 21-year-old thinks that Rydström has gotten a lot out of the team.

– We have trusted “Henke’s ideas and I think that is what made it go so well. We have been loyal to the plan and “Henke”. I think that’s where it’s.

Fröling had injury worries last year and this year is happy to have played continuously. At the same time, he had wanted to score a little more points this year in the Allsvenskan.

– I think it was good in terms of play, as we found each other up there, but I am a little dissatisfied with my points harvest. It feels like I could have gotten a little more out, but four plus four is still perfectly okay, he says.

What do you think was missing from the fact that you did not score more points?

– It’s hard to say now. I actually do not know, but considering how we played, you might think I would have done more, which I can agree with. That’s how it is. I landed on four plus four and it’s my best scoring season, so that’s a plus.

Fröling is now on an expiring contract and has received a new contract offer from Kalmar, but has not decided on his future.

– It’s a bit unclear. I do not really know what’s going on. I have received an extension proposal, which I have in mind, but nothing is concrete now. It’s a little early to say right now.

Do you want to review what your options are?

– It is clear that you have it as an alternative, it is not something you really reject, so it is clear that it is an alternative.

If there is a move, Fröling prioritises abroad before another all-Swedish club.

– First and foremost, it is abroad that you want. This is where you aim as a young person and if you get the chance you want to take it, but as I said earlier it is a bit early to know and I know nothing right now.

At the same time, the 21-year-old is clear that he does not rule out an extension.

– It could be (current). I keep the doors open, he says.

What parameters do you take into account when moving abroad?

I have not thought much about it, but when I moved to Kalmar it was the whole thing. It should be a good organization and good around outside of football, as most players want it. That’s it, he says.

What does the interest look like for you?

– I do not know. I’ll have a chat with my advisors at the end of the week. It’s too early to tell.

Will it be a hectic Christmas?

– Either or, I actually do not know.
