If you download loan applications you can end up extorted

The Nuevo Leon Justice Prosecutor’s Office alerted by the “montadeudas”, a new form of organized crime in Mexico that specializes in the crime of extortionfraud and theft of information.

According to the authorities, criminals make use of express credit mobile applications that, when downloaded to a mobile device, can access personal information.

“If you go down loan applications to you cell phone they can steal your information and extort you later,” reads the statement from the Prosecutor’s Office.

When downloading the application, the user is asked to accept the terms and conditions to receive the alleged loan, by doing so the client gives access to all their information.

If you are a victim of the “montadeudas”, you can file a complaint with the Public Ministry, either in person, through a video complaint, or call 8120204100.

These are the recommendations offered by the Prosecutor’s Office New Lion to deal with the montadeudas:

  1. Keep in mind that you are not dealing with a real company.
  2. Their threats, beyond using the information they had access to, is unreal, so you should not pay attention to them.
  3. You must send a message to all your contacts informing that you are being the victim of extortion, so that they do not pay attention to the messages. They will understand.
  4. You must block your social networks for at least 30 days for greater security.
  5. You must stop using the phone number provided.
  6. First of all, you must remember that you are the victim of a crime, do not let them fool you with the false belief of a debt.
