Anyone who does not get vaccinated in Singapore is no longer eligible for free treatment in the event of an infection. The Ministry of Health has announced this.

“We will start charging Covid patients who knowingly failed to vaccinate from December 8 for their disease treatment if they become infected,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement. It concerns people who are eligible for the vaccine but who consciously choose not to have themselves vaccinated. Those who do not qualify, such as people with certain conditions, are not covered by that decision.
According to the ministry, the situation is better than it has been in recent weeks, but there are still too many infections and too many hospital beds have been occupied by corona patients. “Of the 280 beds in intensive care, 134 are currently occupied by Covid patients, the majority of whom are unvaccinated,” said Minister Janil Puthucheary. “We have to keep trying to keep that number as low as possible.”
More than 80 percent of Singapore’s residents have been vaccinated, but numerous new outbreaks have put the healthcare sector under heavy pressure again.
