It’s beautiful, it’s stony and it’s so exclusive that even the multi-millionaires can’t be sure of getting their hands on a copy.
The car is called the Ferrari Daytona SP3 and is primarily a tribute to the slightly unbelievable triple victory on the legendary Daytona track in 1967.
The time when Ferrari managed to humiliate Ford by taking all the podium places on what was seen by many as Ford’s home track.
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 is inspired by previous iconic cars such as the 512 S, 712 Can-Am and 312 P. It has also won several awards for its unique design.

This is the exclusive original of the Ferrari Daytona SP3. It is as expensive as it looks.

Stiff price
Of course, you will find the award-winning V12 of 6.5 liters under the bonnet. The performance is a solid 840 horsepower and it has a maximum speed of a small-wild 9,500 r/min.
0-100 km/h should go away in a lightning-quick 2.8 seconds, while up to 0-200 km/h only takes 7.4 seconds. The top speed is stated at 340 km/h. Also solid.
The price of the beauty passes, by a good margin, two million dollars, or a good bit over NOK 20 million – that’s before VAT and taxes…
But then there is a cheaper and slightly smaller alternative.
Danish Lego has made a 1:8 scale model of the same car.

The blocks are both many and small – and the wealth of detail is great.

Hardly done in the blink of an eye
When (or perhaps rather if…) you assemble all the 3,778(!) blocks in the right order and in the right place, the result should be a 59 centimeter long, 14 centimeter high and 25 centimeter wide Ferrari SP3. It is hardly done in a jiffy to build it.
But when you’re done, you’ll have a car with a working 8-speed sequential gearbox, a V12 engine with moving pistons and silver-painted rims in a faithful replica of the original. The recommended age limit to get started on this is 18 years.
– We are incredibly lucky to be able to work with Ferrari to help fans make their dreams come true.
That is what Niels B. Christiansen, spokesman for the Lego group, says in a press release.

This is what the result will hopefully look like after a few hours of construction.

Ferrari are happy
Because Lego has collaborated with Italian Ferrari to produce this Lego car. The Italians also seem satisfied with the end result.
– It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with the Lego group on this model, says Flavio Manzoni, none other than chief designer at Ferrari.
Now Ferrari and Lego fans can build the car, brick by brick, before having the opportunity to display the stunning model in their own homes. Adds Manzoni in conclusion.
If you fancy your own Ferrari and are ready to get started on the project, it is now on sale. Both in stores and online. The price is around NOK 4,000. It’s quite a bit cheaper than the original, but then it’s also a bit smaller.
