There is no division in the ranks of “Continuing the change – Democratic Bulgaria”, announced the MP Ivaylo Mirchev from the coalition in the studio “Hello, Bulgaria” on Nova TV. On the air of bTV, his colleague Bozhidar Bojanov said that there were different votes between DB and PP before and they were based on a different assessment of risks and probabilities. He has his opinion on yesterday’s vote for ITN’s Silvi Kirilov for Speaker of Parliament.
Despite a request that they support ITN’s application, the PP-DB group split during the nomination vote. 17 of the coalition group voted “for” Kirilov, 1 was “against”, and 19 deputies abstained from voting for the ITN doyenne.
Already at the beginning of the week, representatives of “Yes, Bulgaria” announced that they will vote with “abstain” if Kirilov’s election depends on a majority with “Vazrazhdane”. Kostadinov’s party supported ITN’s claim in the runoff.
“There is no division in the PP-DB. Our reasons are bigger than us. In “Democratic Bulgaria” we are much more right-wing and we understand politics in a different way. However, our reasons with “Continuing the Change” are common, “Mirchev assured.
In his words, the PP-DB called on all political forces to withdraw their candidates to start the 51st parliament.
“We have no problem with “Vazrazhdane” supporting our bills in the chamber, but when we choose the Speaker of the National Assembly, this is equivalent to creating a majority, ” Mirchev also said.
According to him, Boyko Borisov‘s plan is three-step and he intends to “sew” PP-DB to “Vazrazhdane”, which was a function of GERB.
“If we vote for the speaker of the parliament with Vazrazhdane, in January they will choose Borislav Sarafov as the chief prosecutor. The elections are at the beginning of April. Then the head of GERB will say that if the democrats could rule by Vazrazhdane, they will also be with GERB This is how he will fulfill his dream of rule by the party of Kostadin Kostadinov, as he did with the patriots years ago,” said Representative of the People.
Bozhidar Bojanov also said that there is no division in the coalition.
“I would not look for any big minds. There have been different votes between us and the PP before and they were based again on a different assessment of risks and probabilities. We appeared together in the elections because we share the main political goals. I don’t think we can conclude that we have such bad divisions that we are not together,” he said.
According to him, the vote was reached after long and fruitful discussions in the parliamentary group and party groups.
“No one else withdrew their candidate, and listening to the debate in the room, this election turned from a technical one to a political one.” We have guessed if we say with the first vote that we are voting for a caretaker prime minister, this will mean that we are out of this parliament. We decided that we cannot tell the voters that we, with the first vote, sending them to the elections,” said Bozhidar Bojanov.
On Friday, there will be a fifth attempt to elect the President of the Parliament. Delegates gather at 10am to vote again on the proposals of the individual formations. This is the record 12th day of the first sitting of the 51st Parliament.
