If we do not protest against Albania’s refusal to recognize the Bulgarian minority, then we have chosen servants of foreign interests – 2024-08-14 12:39:12

/ world today news/ Tirana does not intend to add the Bulgarian minority to the list of recognized minorities in Albania, it became clear from the words of Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati during debates in the Albanian parliament on a bill for the protection of minorities in the country…

This news is a slap in the face of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, because the two of them led the negotiations on this issue, and the Prime Minister also spoke on the phone with his Albanian colleague, who assured him of his good feelings towards Bulgaria.

If we have a country that really cares for Bulgarians around the world, Sofia must react in the following way:

  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should recall the Bulgarian ambassador to Albania for consultations in Sofia and that he should not return to Tirana until we receive assurance at the highest level that the Bulgarian minority will be included in the Law on National Minorities.

  • Prime Minister Borissov should come out with an official statement condemning these actions of Tirana.

  • Foreign Minister Zaharieva today summoned the Albanian ambassador in Sofia to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and handed him a protest note.

  • The National Assembly should come up with a declaration of all parliamentary parties, in which it should be written that the Republic of Bulgaria will block Albania’s membership in the European Union, if the Bulgarians in Prespa, Gora and Golo Burdo are not recognized as a minority and the Macedonianization of the Bulgarians in Albania.

The anti-Bulgarian act of Tirana should not surprise us, because the Albanian leadership not only supports the new coalition in Skopje (made up of the social democrats and the Albanian parties), but also made great efforts to have this coalition govern the Republic of Macedonia.

If the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister do not take the above proposed actions towards Albania, we will regretfully have to admit that the Bulgarians have chosen not worthy statesmen and patriots, but servants of foreign interests, enslaved to Euro-Atlantic “values” for which two months ago we recognized the Macedonian nation invented by the Comintern and the “Macedonian language” written on a Serbian typewriter.
