After 13 years from the date set for the final farewell to endothermic engines, the situation is not the most optimistic. Italian citizens have yet to understand the importance of electric cars for the green change.

These data emerged from a recent research commissioned by Federauto and conducted by Format Research: the picture is critical, the Italians have not understood the importance of the electric future of mobility at all.

Sales of electric cars in Italy are proceeding slowly
From the alarming data of the Federauto search it emerges that, in 5 years (from 2017 to today), only the1,9% of the cars sold are electric. It is a disheartening fact: it pushes insiders to fear that we will not be able to fully achieve the green turning point of electric cars by 2035. In essence, 13 years will not be enough to achieve the complete conversion of the automotive market.
From the Federauto research it appears that, for now, the motorists most attracted to electric cars are above all young people and citizens residing in large metropolitan areas. A figure that does not smile at all to technology, considering that the numbers, as we have seen before, are too low to hope for an eco-sustainable change by 2035.
The president of Federauto, Adolfo De Stefani Cosentino, confirms it: to date, the electric car market is a niche market. He concludes by assuming an optimistic outlook:
“As they become more accessible and Italy will have the necessary infrastructures, in the future electric cars will be able to acquire new market spaces ”.
In fact, optimism does not prevail in the automobile market. So that the limit set at 2035 could be extended.
