The Mooney VR46 Racing Team made its debut in MotoGP this year with encouraging results. It saw Luca Marini finish 12th in the championship and Marco Bezzecchi 14th for best rookie, also earning a podium finish. He finished eighth in teams, a reason for joy for the director Uccio Salucci.
The official told SpeedWeek.com that it’s a highly anticipated campaign from the Valentino facility Rossi: “If someone had told me last February that we would have a season like this, I would have signed in blood. I am really satisfied. We worked on all fronts, especially at home. I am proud of our staff and drivers. Vale is also very happy. »
Salucci then said: ” The results are very positive: Bez is the rookie of the year, but Maro [Marini] he has always been very fast, especially in the last races of the season. Bez also got on the podium and we finished in fourth place a few times. As a team we didn’t finish far behind Suzuki and were ahead of Repsol Honda. »
Although he is satisfied with this first season in the top category, the Italian stressed not to rest on his laurels and to think about what could be improved in 2023: “ I’m really happy, but at the same time I’m a person who will never take advantage of such a situation. Because you always have to try to keep working, improve and find something to improve next year. »
