If they don’t beat Indonesia, Australia wants to take it out on China

Jakarta

Australia facing China in the expansion 2026 World Cup Qualifier. Apostolos Stamatelopoulos is determined to win to make up for his disappointment against Indonesia.

Australia vs China will take place at Adelaide Oval, Thursday (10/10/2024). Both teams need to get three points in this match after being the bottom two teams in Group C in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Australia only got one point after losing 0-1 against Bahrain and drawing 1-1 with Indonesia. China still have zero points by losing 0-7 to Japan and 1-2 to Saudi Arabia.

“Yes, we are disappointed that we didn’t get the first win, but the feeling is fine and I think we will come in and do a good performance on Thursday night,” Stamatelopoulos said as announced on the Socceroos official website.

Stamatelopoulos believes that China will play defensively. Australia need to steal a wicket first to make the match more open.

“I think, since they will be playing at home, they will defend very deep, trying to keep a clean sheet,” Stamatelopoulos believes.

“So for us, the important thing is to break down their defence, score the first goal, leave the game open and go from there,” he said.
