The car manufacturer VW is currently trying to go through all eventualities in order not to stand still completely in the event of a possible gas supply stop. For this purpose, a crisis management team was set up for the entire VW Group, as Neckarsulm HR manager Stefanie Ulrich reported on Tuesday evening at the IHK general meeting.
Audi has already gone through its entire supply chain. It became clear that the plant in Ingolstadt could compensate for the gas mainly with oil. The following applies to the Neckarsulm plant: “When the gas valve shuts off, we stop immediately,” says Ulrich.
In doing so, she also made it clear to suppliers and the entire economy in the region what effects a gas supply stop could have.

Potential savings are also used
The calculations also revealed: “The savings potential is around 20 percent,” as Production Director Gerd Walker reported in Ingolstadt last week.
The security of supply is guaranteed by the use of alternative fuels and the switch to electricity, he emphasized there. Apparently that only applied to Ingolstadt.
According to the company, the effects of switching to electricity have not yet been calculated.
In any case, one problem is that many suppliers are also dependent on gas, according to Walker.
