“If the war does not continue, the government will dissolve”, threatens Israel’s far-right Minister of National Security

Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, today threatened to withdraw from the governing coalition if the war against Hamas does not continue after the end of the several-day truce.

“Ending the war = Dissolving the government,” he wrote in a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

The far-right Otsma Yehudit party, led by Itamar Ben Gvir, is represented by three ministers in the Netanyahu government and holds a total of six seats in the Israeli parliament.

According to the Times of Israel, as long as Netanyahu’s government still has the support of Benny Gantz’s National Unity party, it will be able to withstand Ben Gvir’s possible departure.
