Central Executive Board (DPP) PDIP raise your voice about the call Jokowi three periods in the All-Indonesian Village Government Association event (Apdesi) which was attended by Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Tuesday (29/3).

The chairman of the PDIP Election Winning Body (Bappilu), Bambang Wuryanto admitted that he did not want to ban some of the people’s wishes for Jokowi to continue for three terms. However, according to him, the term of office of the president has been agreed upon and set for only two terms.

“That’s what Apdesi wants, if the person wants it, that’s fine, but this republic has agreed that we are a nation and state,” he told reporters at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (30/3).

Moreover, Bambang Pacul, as he is familiarly called, believes that the current TAP MPR, which allows to amend the provisions of the Constitution regarding the presidential term of office, is no longer valid. Thus, the provisions on the matter are only regulated through laws, government regulations, and regional regulations.

In the law, for example, Pacul said, a presidential nomination is only possible if it is submitted by a political party or a coalition of political parties that meet the threshold requirement of 20 percent of the votes in parliament.

Thus, there is no requirement that the presidential nomination be carried by Apdesi votes or a combination of village government votes.

“Is there a combination of Apdesi or not, there are aspirations, yes, it’s okay,” said the chairman of Commission III of the DPR.

Currently, Pacul said, the PDI-P’s vote on the proposed postponement of the 2024 election and the extension of the presidential term was unanimous. Her party has rejected the proposal as directed by General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

“I am a party cadre, a party bearer, that’s how it is, in this case, I am obedient to the president’s orders,” he said.

After calling for Jokowi for three terms, the General Chairperson of Apdesi Surtawijaya later even planned to declare support for Jokowi for three periods after Eid al-Fitr.

Meanwhile, the Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Ali Mochtar Ngabalin said that the village head’s support for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) serving 3 terms should not be hindered.

Ngabalin said the support was the people’s aspiration. According to him, the public has the right to express their opinion.
