The ResidenciArt 2.0 project brings great concert artists to residences for the elderly
The Palau de la Música will go to residences for the elderly. And the Teatre Fortuny, and the Pau Casals Auditorium… All thanks to the ResidenciArt 2.0 project, an initiative by the musician Alfredo Panebianco, which has been carried out with the support of the Tarragona Provincial Council.
“The elderly who are in residences are very well cared for, but there are grandparents who used to go to the theater, to the opera, to see concerts… and now, due to their own limitations, they can no longer. So I thought of bringing a program with high-level artists to the residencies”, explains the guitarist and composer. This is how Panebianco designed a tour of micro-concerts and shows through residences for the elderly and special education centers, which are nourished by leading figures in music: «We take advantage of the fact that many big names do international tours and come to play at the Palau de la Music, the Teatre Fortuny, the Auditori Pau Casals, etc. to propose this idea to you.
The result, assures the musician, has been a great complicity on the part of the interpreters and an extraordinary reception on the part of the centers. The initiative also wants to be a showcase for new talent, so concerts by performers and artists who are making their first steps in the professional world have also been scheduled.
The first edition of Residenciart 2.0 was held in July last year with eleven concerts. Given the good reception, Panebianco and the Diputació decided to program a second edition, which was held from the end of September to December, and which brought music and shows to a total of 116 centres. Throughout this adventure, Panebianco underlines, “the help of the Provincial Council of Tarragona has been essential.”
Now, he explains, they are already working on a new program: «They call us from residences asking for a third edition, word of mouth has worked a lot within the sector». The idea, however, is to also get the involvement of private companies, in order to program more activities and that these can have more continuity. “We want to make it even bigger so that all residencies can have their schedule,” says Panebianco.
