If necessary, the army promises to provide assistance to the frightened child with training shooting

National armed forces (NBS) if necessary, they are ready to provide assistance to a child who was thoroughly intimidated during the training weekend last weekend during the training “Namejs 2021” in the center of Riga.

National Guard Commander Brigadier General Egils Leščinskis met with a woman, who can be seen in the video from the active phase of the NAF military exercise “Namejs 2021” in Riga,

During the meeting, the woman has confirmed that she will apply to the DSI in the near future with a written application, as she believes that the right to protection of personal data has been violated by publishing the video in question. The woman tried to contact the author of the video to have the video deleted, but did not receive a response.

The NAF is ready to provide the necessary support to the family in reviewing this issue in close cooperation with the Inspectorate, and in other possible issues, for example, in connection with the possible impact of shot noise on the child’s health.

The safety and health of both the population and the participants of the training is important in the NAF, therefore the Armed Forces has assessed the case, taking into account the fact that in the situation the woman was on her way to her place of residence. The participants of the training were also informed, drawing conclusions accordingly, in order to prevent such situations in the future in military exercises in the urban environment, the army statement states.

It has already been reported that the active phase of military training “Namejs” will take place until October 3 not only in Ādaži landfill and regional landfills, but also in Rīga and adjacent counties, as well as in Jelgava, Kuldīga, Dobele, Ventspils, Aizkraukle, Jēkabpils, Preiļi, Daugavpils, Rēzekne and other cities. It has already been reported that during military exercises, the movement of military equipment and personnel is possible anywhere in the territory of Latvia.

Approximately 9,300 participants participate in the military exercise “Namejs 2021”, including soldiers of the Latvian and Allied Armed Forces, national guards, reserve soldiers, including Latvian citizens receiving military training for reservists, employees of the Ministry of Defense and staff of the Ministry of the Interior – State Police, State Border Guard, Employees of the State Fire and Rescue Service and the Prison Administration.

Military training tasks are performed on previously agreed state and local government, as well as legal and private land holdings.
