If five or more family members who have been away from other spaces or areas gather during the Lunar New Year holiday, they will be fined not more than 100,000 won for violating the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) quarantine rules.

For example, if a son in his 40s who lives in Seoul goes down to his hometown with his wife and one child and meets his parents in his 70s, five people who are not living with him will gather in one space to be fined.

This is a kind of nasty prescription that asks people not to meet face-to-face unless they are living with a family member this year, but the quarantine authorities demanded voluntary cooperation from the people in that management and supervision are practically difficult.

Robbery Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters 1 General Coordinator (Vice Minister of Health and Welfare) said at a regular briefing on the day, “The ban on private gatherings with more than 5 people is extended for 2 weeks until the Lunar New Year holiday.” I can’t have it.”

He added, “This applies without exception during the Lunar New Year holidays,” he added. “For the safety of families and neighbors, refrain from returning home and traveling this New Year, and ask for non-face-to-face regards.”

Many point out that it is difficult to crack down even if measures are taken to ban meetings of five or more immediate family members. Regarding this, Son Young-rae, head of the Social Strategy Division, Central Accident Control Headquarters of the Ministry of Welfare, said, “The ban on more than 5 people is a measure that affects all areas of life. I look forward to doing it.”

“If you violate the ban on meetings with more than 5 people, you can impose a fine of not more than 100,000 won according to the Infectious Disease Prevention Act,” said Son Young-rae, head of the social strategy group. “I have to say hello.”

The quarantine authorities also receive highway tolls during the Lunar New Year holiday. In general, it was customary to convert highway tolls for free on holidays, but in the case of the Corona 19 epidemic, it is switched to paid. The government plans to use the tolls collected during the holiday season for quarantine activities.

During the holiday season, only window seats can be reserved for railroad tickets, and indoor eating and drinking are prohibited at highway rest areas and only package sales are allowed.

Meanwhile, the quarantine authorities announced on the 31st that they would extend special measures, such as banning private gatherings with more than 5 people until the Lunar New Year holiday, and the quarantine measures restricting business until 9 pm for two weeks. A new distancing measure containing such content will be operated for two weeks from February 1st to 14th. Step 2.5 in the metropolitan area and step 2 in the non-capital area.
