SANTO DOMINGO.- Senate President Eduardo Estrella said Tuesday that if the money allegedly stolen from the past government is recovered, it would not be necessary to resort to loans to face a crisis.
“If the money that was stolen in the previous administration is recovered, we would not have submitting loans,” claimed the legislator during the session, where the senators approved two loan contracts, one for 250 million dollars for the mobility of transport and security road, and another for more than six million euros for the construction of the drinking water system in peri-urban areas of the Santo Domingo province.
He also stated that he does not like loans.
“I do not like loans and I have never wanted to know about loans … I hope that with the help of the Dominican justice that in the future we will not have to approve many loans.”
The loan agreement for 250 million dollars, destined to the execution of the program to support mobility, land transportation and road safety in the Dominican Republic, was signed between the Dominican Republic and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
6.9 million Euros
The second loan contract ratified in a single reading by the senators was signed between the Spanish Water Treatment Company (SETA), and the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), for six million 951 thousand 465 euros.
The agreement is intended for the execution of the construction project of the potable water system in peri-urban areas of the Santo Domingo province, and was initialed on November 14, 2013.
