VIVA – About five billion years from now Sun will run out of nuclear fuel and breath its last as it expands into a red giant.
The expanding star will engulf the innermost planets in the Solar System and turn the Earth into a scorch. That’s the sign doomsday from a scientific point of view.
But, long before the Sun ran out of energy, scientists feared the Earth would run out oxygen and almost nothing can be done to prevent an apocalypse scenario, as quoted VIVA Tekno from site Express, Friday, October 8, 2021.
According to a paper published in the journal Nature Geosciences earlier this year the Sun will accelerate the rate at which oxygen must be depleted on Earth. Oxygen will run out in the next 1 billion years so there is nothing more for humans to do.
The researchers note that the depletion of oxygen on Earth is an inevitable consequence of increased solar radiation.
The star at the heart of the Solar System is poised to grow brighter and brighter as time goes on, sending more light and radiation to Earth.
Increased radiation will increase the weathering of silicate rocks which in the process will attract carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and trap it in the soil.
