TVIn an interview with well-known television host Dr. Phil, Jeffrey Dahmer’s father testifies to the worrying signals received from his teenage son. In his own words, he could then have stopped some of Jeffrey’s murders. “I thought there was porn in that box.”
Lionel Dahmer, the father of the killer Jeffrey Dahmer, spoke at length in an interview with TV presenter Dr. Phil about how he should have realized that something was wrong with his son. For example, he tells of a time when Jeffrey was still living with his grandmother in Milwaukee, a time when Jeffrey had already started killing people.
“When I went to visit my son at his grandmother’s, I had a conversation with her about Jeffrey having a lot of porn magazines lying around the house. When I then wanted to tell him about it in his room, I also found a mysterious wooden box in the room ”. Lionel wanted to open the wooden box, but Jeffrey begged him not to: “Give me another day, father. By opening it now, you will make grandma angry.” When Lionel accepted the proposal and was shown the contents of the box the next day, it turned out to contain porn magazines. “It was only later that it became known that in the coffin there was actually a severed human head. So if I hadn’t taken Jeffrey’s suggestion and opened the box right away, I could have saved a lot of lives right now,” Lionel said.

In addition, Dr. Phil also about what would lead Jeffrey down the dark path. Lionel replies that Jeffrey already had problems as a child. For example, he apparently mutilated animals because he got a sexual kick by playing with their innards. When Lionel looks back on it later, he realizes that signs of him were there at an early age.
The short snippet where Lionel tells the story of the wooden box is an excerpt from the three-part series Dr. Phil is worried about Dahmer. The Netflix series ‘Dahmer’ also appeared earlier this year. In it, among other things, the history of the box is portrayed.
