Seven hours after his arrest, he still had 1.16 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. Friday, November 5, he spent an evening in a hotel in Yutz. Employees see him leaving around 1 a.m. and heading for his car. He seems very drunk. The staff then closes the gates of the parking lot, preventing the drunk driver from taking the road. The latter gets annoyed, honks. The police intervene. The man reverses, gets out of the back of his vehicle and tries to hide behind a tree. He probably thinks he’s invisible, but the authorities spot him. He struggles, insults and threatens the police who take him to the police station.

Converted farm prison
On Monday, the 30-year-old boy had had time to sober up. He spent the weekend in jail. He was presented for immediate appearance before the court of Thionville. The president notably returned to the insults uttered the night of his arrest. “I don’t remember saying all these words but it’s possible,” he admits. He especially admits that he has a problem with alcohol. He’s already been convicted of it. His doctor certifies that he has started drug treatment. The defendant lives with his parents in northern Meurthe-et-Moselle, he has just had a baby, he works on a permanent contract. “I want to go to treatment, if I lose my job, I lose everything,” he said.
The court hears and sentences him to twelve months in prison, including eight months, which will be arranged by a placement in a semi-liberty center, compatible with his work. The remainder of the sentence, four months suspended, will be subject to the obligation to seek treatment.
