The first tourists from Zanzibar arrived, flying to the exotic destination an hour after the order of the Minister of Health to impose quarantine on all arrivals from Africa. Three flights from Zanzibar departed back to Bulgaria last night. All tourists will be placed under a 10-day quarantine, according to the order. One of them is Katya.
“This order came out in the evening when we were at the airport. Absolutely surprising and if I had known, I would not have traveled. I even tried to stop my trip,” she said.
Katya thinks that there will be problems at work as well. The newcomers accept that they will spend 10 days at home with mixed feelings, Bulgaria ON AIR reported.
Apart from Bulgaria, however, tourists were confronted with restrictive orders in Zanzibar. Authorities there imposed a strict ban on clothing. In public places, tourists should cover their bodies from shoulder to knee.
In addition, 3-day mourning has been declared in the country over the death of Tanzanian President John Magufuli. One of the most outspoken coronary skeptics in Africa was overthrown by Kovid-19.
“There was mourning, but people there don’t believe it. They say it’s a heart attack. That’s what the government said and they believe it. None of the people there think it’s a coronavirus,” said Viktor Velkov.
From the airport, most passengers boarded taxis and headed home.
All passengers will be tested for coronavirus on the 10th day of their quarantine.
