Earlier this week there was information that stated that IF Elfsborg planned the last match preparation training in Båstad in Scania on Saturday, before leaving for Sunday’s gold decider against Malmö FF.
That will not be the case now.
Saturday’s training is planned to take place in Borås, on the grass field Ryavallen, which is located a stone’s throw from Borås’ arena. The reason behind the confusion is that they did not expect that the grass in Borås would measure up.
– It has been about the pitch. It’s not usually as good as it is now, this time of year. That’s what we were worried about. We wanted to play on grass and have a good grass field, but it looks much better than we thought from the beginning, says Jimmy Thelin.
– In previous years, we haven’t even been able to train at Ryavallen for the last two or three weeks. So that’s been the whole thing from the beginning. It has since become a thing in the media, but for us it has been the plan.
Have you tried the grass field?
– Yes, we were out yesterday and tested a bit. It looks very promising.
But whether Elfsborg travels down to Malmö on Saturday or Sunday is still shrouded in obscurity.
– Start by coming here (tomorrow). You have to work a little. I can’t serve everything on a silver platter, laughs Thelin.
