JAKARTAMPR emphasized that he had prepared anticipatory steps in the event of a disruption in 2024 election . This was confirmed by the Chairman MPR Bambang Soesatyo answered regarding the fear of delays 2024 election after the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus).

“I emphasize here that I am not allowed to answer, because this is not the territory of the MPR, this is the domain of the judiciary,” said the man who is familiarly called Bamsoet, at an MPR event in Bandung, as quoted in a press statement, Sunday (19/3/2023).

“Let the judiciary decide whether to go through a higher decision from the PN to the PT (High Court) and so on and we haven’t entered that area yet. But concerns about disruption to the election stages must indeed be anticipated and we the MPR have anticipated,” he continued.

Bamsoet explained, in order to anticipate fears of postponing the 2024 Election, the MPR made preparations such as political communication to political party leaders which had to be carried out intensely and I will do this to anticipate various things that could happen.

This includes the words of the Golkar Party politician, also anticipating the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the proportional system of the 2024 legislative elections (Pileg).

“Thankfully, we hope that the District Court’s decision yesterday will not interfere with the election stages, including for example the MK’s later decision whether it will be open or closed or half open or half closed,” he said.

Because according to the Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP, the MPR is very dependent on the will of political party leaders. Unfortunately, according to him, sometimes people misinterpret that the MPR leadership can postpone elections, even though they don’t have any power without the approval of the stakeholders.

“This hammer will be able to be knocked, agree and disagree if all stakeholders in parliament, the leaders of political parties and the DPD agree,” explained Bamsoet.

There are parties who want the election to be withdrawn

If he looks at the wishes of the media as well as a number of politicians, Bamsoet sees that their tone wants the 2024 elections to be held on time, although he cannot deny that in his conversations with a number of friends who he declined to mention, they want the elections to be postponed.

“But if we talk between friends, just step back boss, it’s like that and this is a fact,” he explained.

“But my benchmark is the constitution, which is five years, so if someone asks, the election must be on time because the constitution regulates it today,” said the former chairman of the DPR.
