If COVID is now out of control, DKI will enter a critical phase

Jakarta

Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan said that currently the capital city is experiencing a drastic spike in COVID cases. Anies said Jakarta currently has the potential to enter a critical phase.

Anies initially explained the update of COVID cases in Jakarta for a week. He revealed there has been an increase of 50 percent since June 6.

“In the last 1 week, active cases in Jakarta as of June 6, 11,500. And today there are 17,400 cases. Within 1 week there has been an increase of 50%. The postivity rate has also increased, which was 9% last week, today 17%,” said Anies while leading a joint rally in the context of disciplinary enforcement of micro-scale PPKM for the 2021 FY at Blok S Field, South Jakarta, Sunday (13/6/2021).

Anies explained that in the last 4 days the number of infections had increased. In fact, DKI Jakarta’s testing capability in this 1 week has been improved.

“The increase in new cases in the last 4 days has increased by 2000, 2,300, 2,400, today 2,700. On the other hand, DKI’s testing capability in 1 week has been increased from 4x the WHO standard to 8x the WHO standard, it still shows a high positivity rate,” said Anies.

“Similarly, the availability of beds, isolation in hospitals, last week filled 45%. Today 75% filled,” he said.

According to him, this condition can make DKI Jakarta enter a critical phase if it does not immediately take drastic steps.

“If the current conditions are not under control, we will enter the critical phase. If the critical phase occurs, we must take drastic steps such as last September and February. If we do not take action, then it has the potential to face difficulties because health facilities may face uncontrollable numbers if we do not take action. patients, the number of people treated has increased drastically,” he said.

Anies asked for the need for collective discipline. Involving all elements of society, including law enforcement officers and the government.

“But in Jakarta now it is necessary to carry out collective discipline, not only the community, or law enforcement, or the government alone. All elements must be together,” he said.

“We hope that with increased disciplinary measures in the next few days, hopefully the situation in Jakarta will be more under control and we hope that the feared crisis will not occur,” he added.

Anies also asked all parties to obey the rules. He emphasized again that Jakarta could enter a critical phase if COVID is not under control.

“I ask for everything, obey, discipline,” he said.
