“If anything, then West Berlin against Köpenick”

After the first tip from Hertha President Kay Bernstein, the Unioners tease back before the derby.

Hertha Boss President Kay Bernstein (42) wrote Köpenick with a C in front and thus did not count it as part of Berlin, as before the incorporation in 1920. Now the Unioners are teasing back before the big derby.

In fan forums you can read: “The fact that Hertha can be mentioned in the same breath as Berlin is an absolute shame for our city!” Or: “Whistling in the woods. He knows his junk shop’s hours are numbered anyway.”

Unioners even show sympathy for the sporting and economically ailing local rivals: “One can only smile mildly at the gray mouse Hertha BSC.”

And referring directly to his quote, one answer in the fan forum is: “If anything, then West Berlin versus Köpenick.”

Bernstein’s suggestion that as few tickets as possible go to Unioner via the normal guest contingent is already obsolete. A Unioner sounds online: “I got my ticket for the derby from Hertha circles.”

For Hertha, the fifth derby bankruptcy in a row threatens in the highlight duel. For Union, on the other hand, there are a number of other goodies with games in the DFB Cup round of 16 against Wolfsburg (January 31) and in the play-offs for the round of 16 in the Europa League against Amsterdam (February 16 and 23) …
