Indonesia stock exchange (IDX) opened its voice regarding the decline in daily trading transactions stock Exchange lately.
It is known that the average transaction value last week was recorded at IDR 10.62 trillion, while on Tuesday (5/4) trading, the transaction value was only IDR 8.16 trillion.
This figure dropped drastically from the record at the beginning of the year, namely in January when daily transactions were recorded to be above IDR 20 trillion.
According to the Director of Trade and Regulation of IDX Members of the IDX, Laksono Widodo, this is because in January there was a January Effect which usually raised the stock index at the beginning of the year.
Then, added to the euphoria of the vaccination program, which is projected to boost the economy.
“After that, the euphoria waned and investors waited for concrete results in terms of data on economic improvement. In addition, issuers have not reported their 2020 financial reports, so the market is still waiting and seeing,” explained Laksono to reporters, Sealsa ( 6/4).
Laksono said that this did not only happen in Indonesia, but also in other stock exchanges.
Apart from that, he said another thing that made the index ‘quiet’ was the discourse on limiting homecoming during this year’s Eid holiday which contributed to negative sentiment regarding economic recovery.
“Of course (the decline in transactions) has an effect on the decline in the JCI because of the wait and see attitude,” he explained.
As is known, the index over the past few weeks has been under pressure, even breaking below the 6,000 level. As of Tuesday (6/4) morning, the index touched the level of 5,944.
Several sentiments that caused the index to be corrected were the high yield on long-term bonds of the United States (US) and the plan of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to reduce investment portfolios in the stock market.
