Idriss, 15 years old and “not a super strong”, prevents the rape of a teenager – Liberation

Sexual violencedossier

The teenager arrested a man committing a rape on a 13-year-old girl in Cenon at the beginning of February. After a call for witnesses issued by the police, Idriss has just been found to be congratulated.

“This type of call for witnesses is rare, I am counting on you to find this brave young man.” This is how the Gironde police account shared on social networks earlier this week a call for witnesses to find the trace, not of a missing person, but of a savior: a teenager who, by his intervention, stopped an attempted rape in Cenon (Gironde), at the beginning of February. On Twitterthe Gironde police announced on Wednesday that they had found traces of the young man, “a young 15-year-old hero whose name is Idriss”.

According South West, the facts took place on February 3 around 5:30 p.m., in this city of nearly 25,000 inhabitants in the Bordeaux suburbs. A 13-year-old girl was lured between two cars by an individual who demanded oral sex. “When he saw the assault in progress, [Idriss] jumped on the assailant to free him by pulling him by the shoulders, by the coat. The adult was already on top of the girl,” told the head of communication at the departmental directorate of public security in Gironde, to France 3.

Other witnesses of the scene then managed to control and keep the attacker in place, until the arrival of the police. The suspect, in his forties, had already convicted 11 times, in particular for acts of violence and fatal blows which in 2012 had earned him a sentence of twelve years’ imprisonment by the Assize Court of the Dordogne. In a state of legal recidivism, he was referred on February 5 and indicted for attempted rape of a minor under 15 years old.

“Surprised and delighted”

But Idriss had left the scene before the police arrived. Hence the call for witnesses launched on Twitter. And this time, the magic of social networks worked positively. Seen by 1.2 million Internet users, the message eventually reached the teenager and his family, who were received on Wednesday by the departmental directorate of public security.

“He was both surprised and delighted that the police wanted to meet him,” according to the communication manager of the Girondine police. “Idriss is a 15-year-old kid, who has a normal build. He’s not a super tough guy… but he reacted well, he summarized. Of the “congratulations worthy of the name” will be reserved for him soon.
