BAFTA winners and No Time To Die film editors Tom Cross and Elliot Graham say Idris Elba is “too old” to be the next James Bond.
The couple spoke exclusively to the Daily Star at the 75th British Academy Film Awards on Sunday (March 13) in the winners room at the posh London event.
They took home the award for Editing at Night for the 2021 box office hit No Time To Die, actor Daniel Craig’s last film as the lead.
Daniel has spent the last 15 years of his life playing James Bond, however it’s time for a new face in town.

The next Bond movie will see a new actor taking Daniel’s place in the iconic spy movie series.
Speaking about who could play Bond next, Elliot Graham said: “Honestly, I think if I had been ten years younger than Daniel, Idris Elba would be playing the next Bond, but since they are a similar age, that is the question. But I don’t know someone amazing, because Daniel is difficult to follow.
Added Tom Cross: “I let Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli figure it out because they know what they’re doing, but I have no idea.”

She also said that even though Daniel wasn’t at the awards that night, she felt his presence in the star-studded room.
Tom went on to say, “I feel like even though she couldn’t even make it, I felt her presence with the clips from the movie and Shirley Bassey singing Diamonds are Forever. Daniel was in the air.
Elliot then gushed, “Here’s the deal, every movie editor of any kind wants to work on a James Bond movie, you grow up wanting to, we have to do it.

“And being part of the latest Daniel Craig, Sean Connery, they’re all wonderful, but for us, Daniel Craig is very special.”
They also admitted that Hollywood star Daniel was left “in tears” while watching the first preview of his performance in No Time To Die because it was “the last 15 years of his life.”
Daniel first appeared as the world’s most famous agent in 2006 when he starred in Casino Royale, earning him international recognition.
