IDR 75,000 Special Edition Comes with a Security that is Hard to Counterfeit

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Bank Indonesia issued special rupiah currency to welcome the 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

The special rupiah currency issued by Bank Indonesia was a note of Rp. 75,000.

Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo said, special edition money To commemorate the 75th independence of the Republic of Indonesia, it is equipped with a security element, so that counterfeiting of money becomes increasingly difficult.

“This is equipped with the latest high-tech safety elements, and paper material that is more durable. This innovation is intended to make the rupiah more recognized for its authenticity, comfortable and safe to use, and more difficult to fake,” Perry said in a virtual press conference for the launch of a special edition of rupiah. He said, the innovation continues to be carried out periodically and in a planned manner. The goal is to ensure that the rupiah remains the pride as a symbol of the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

The issuance and circulation of independence commemorative money is part of the printing of money for the 2020 fiscal year, which is tailored to the needs of the community.

“Also by basing the provisions and governance on the currency law. Planning has started since 2018,” said Perry.

Previously, Bank Indonesia had also issued several special rupiah currency series.

For example, in the series of 25 Years of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, BI once issued money with the face of the national symbol of the eagle and the back of the bird of paradise.

The money was made of 1000/1000 silver metal with a weight of 8 grams and a diameter of 26 millimeters.

In addition, with the same series and materials, BI has also issued money with the face of the Garuda Indonesia emblem and the back image of the Manjusyri stone statue from Candi Tumpang, Malang.

The same series money is also made of gold metal with a grade of 900/1000.

As for the 50 years of Indonesian Independence series, BI has also released a special coin with the back of President Soeharto.

On the money, there are 50 stars encircling the main image and circular text that says “FIVE YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA”. The money is made of 23 carat gold metal and weighs 50 grams.
