LANSING, KOMPAS.com – A Michigan woman who checked her email spam folder for missing messages found something far more surprising.
He managed to win the lottery jackpot of 3 million US dollars.
Reported UPI, Laura Spears, 55, of Oakland County, told Michigan Lottery officials that she purchased tickets for the December 31 Mega Millions draw on MichiganLottery.com.

“I saw an ad on Facebook that the jackpot for this event was getting higher, so I went into my account and bought a ticket,” Spears said.
“A few days later, I was looking for someone’s missing email, so I checked the spam folder in my email account,” he added.
Spears said a message from the Michigan Lottery caught his attention.
“That’s when I saw an email from the lottery saying I had won a prize. I couldn’t believe what I was reading so I logged into my Lottery account to confirm the message in the email. It’s all still very surprising. I actually won $3 million,” he said.

He said his prize money made it possible to plan for early retirement.
Spears said he had taken steps to prevent a similar situation from happening in the future.
“I added the Michigan Lottery to my list of important senders just in case I’m lucky enough to receive another email about a big prize,” Spears said.
