IDI Value Adenovirus Still the Main Suspect Cause of Acute Hepatitis

JAKARTA, investor.id – Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) who is also the Chair of the IDI Covid-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas) Prof. Dr. Zubairi Djoerban revealed the latest developments regarding acute hepatitis whose cause is not yet known. According to him, the main suspect causing this disease is still an adenovirus.

“Adenovirus is still the main suspect,” said Zubairi when contacted by Beritasatu.com on Sunday (15/5/2022).

This Internal Medicine Specialist, Medical Oncology Hematology Subspecialty, said that more than half of patients with acute hepatitis with no known cause were positive for Adenovirus. Doctors are recommended to consider adenovirus testing for patients.

Some of the most common symptoms are fever, nausea, and vomiting. There is also acute diarrhea, yellowing of the eyes, and cloudy urine resembling tea and pale stools.

“Now our children must be careful and always carry out health protocols and a clean and healthy lifestyle,” he said.

Currently, the total number of people with acute hepatitis whose cause is unknown in the world reaches 450 people (children).

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) and Director of the Sulianti Saroso Infectious Disease Hospital (RSPI), Dr. Mohammad Syahril Mansyur, stated that up to now there have been 17 suspected cases of acute hepatitis in Indonesia.

“Actually, the total number of patients being investigated, investigated or being examined is 25 people. However, of the 25 people, 8 were excluded or discarded because it does not meet the diagnostic criteria for this unknown acute hepatitis,” he said.

For example, such as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) or commonly known as DHF (dengue hemorrhagic fever), there are hepatitis A, B, C (reactive) or other diseases. Thus, as of today there are only 17 cases of acute hepatitis.

Furthermore, the details of the age of the patients from the 17 suspected cases of hepatitis, namely 0-5 years were 7 people. Age 5-10 years as many as 4 people, and at the age of 10-16 years as many as 6 years. Of the 17 cases, 8 were male and 7 female.

“For patient status, 6 died with details of age 2 months, 9 months, 7 years, 8 years and 12 years. Seven patients are still being treated, two people have been sent home. pending classification and two people in the verification process (probable),” said Dr. Syahril.

In order to be understood together, he continued, that the criteria for confirmation of acute hepatitis for which the reason is not yet available or have not been issued by the World Health Organization (WHO). So the term is still probable.

“While the pending classification is being investigated or investigated the evidence supporting the diagnosis,” he said.
