IDI Called the New Covid-19 Variant Does Not Affect Death Cases

JAKARTA, iNews.id – New variant Covid-19 in Indonesia cannot be said to be deadly. This is because the death rate due to Covid-19 in Indonesia has not changed.

“If we look at the presentation, there are still so many people who died. So in fact, whether this variant is deadlier in Indonesia is also difficult to conclude because the number of incidents is not that high, “said the Executive Board. Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI), Mariya Mubarika in the Trijaya Polemic on the topic New Covid-19 Variant, Saturday (22/5/2021).

He said that although the current cases tend to decline, the number of deaths remains above 100. In fact, the death rate should be directly proportional to the reported cases.

“It should have been when we initially knew that the number of deaths was directly proportional to the number of incidents. So, there are many things that are wisely unable to draw firm conclusions, whether new variants have occurred in Indonesia because of limited whole genome sequencing. How many and whatnot, we also find it difficult to conclude, “he said.
