Suara.com – Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) asked the government and society to start to be vigilant Covid-19 virus mutation the latest, namely the N439K variant.
The Chairman of IDI, Daeng M Faqih, said that at least 30 countries had reported the findings of the mutation cases from the UK.
“Recently the government announced the B.1.1.7 variant and in the world there has been a new variant that has been developing again found in the UK, namely the N439K,” said Daeng, Friday (12/3/2021).
Daeng said that this N439K variant is smarter than the previous variant.

“Because the binding to the ACE2 receptor in human cells is stronger, and it is not recognized by polyclonal antibodies that are formed from the immunity of people who have been infected,” he explained.
Therefore, he suggested that the use of suitable masks such as surgical masks, N95, KN94, KF94 can protect up to 90 percent of transmission.
“The use of proper and correct masks is very important, although there is a 10 percent risk of droplets and microdroplets coming out if they are used for too long,” he said.
So far the government has only found two mutation variants of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia, namely the D614G mutation since September 2020 and the B117 mutation since January 2021.
