Details: The tunnel, about four kilometers long, goes 50 meters underground in some places and is wide enough for vehicles to pass through. He did not enter Israeli territory.

One of the mines was found just 400 meters from the Erez crossing, which before the Hamas offensive on October 7 facilitated the movement of Palestinian civilians into Israel for work and medical care.

According to the IDF, the tunnel has several branches and intersections, as well as water, electricity and communication lines. In some parts of the tunnel, the military found security doors that were intended to prevent Israeli troops from entering.

“Many weapons” belonging to Hamas were found in the tunnel.

“Its width indicates that it was intended to carry out vehicle raids against civilians in Gaza border communities,” Colonel Haim Cohen, commander of the Northern Brigade of the Gaza Division, said in a video statement.

According to Cohen, none of the lines entered Israeli territory.
