Thursday May 4, at the end of the afternoon, SNCF agents check the ticket of a young traveler, at Châteaucreux station, in Saint-Étienne. The young man did not buy a ticket. The agents therefore decide to verbalize it. For this, they need the identity and address of the fraudster.
Invited by the controllers to provide these elements, the young man takes out a Stas card (Stéphanois public transport) which challenges the agents. The photo does not match the person facing them. The agents ask if he has any other official documents proving his identity. The young man searches in the satchel he is carrying over his shoulder and pulls out a card which again seems strange to the agents.
The latter therefore solicit the officials of the national police.
Bag stolen from gas station
When they arrived at 5:25 p.m., the police found that the bag contained a whole pile of identity documents, bank card, cash, which belonged to another person. Their checks allow them to establish that this bag was stolen the same morning from a motorist who was refueling his vehicle at a gas station in Oullins (Rhône).
Placed in police custody, the young man, aged 17, will be summoned later to answer for this concealment of theft in court.
