What causes cases of hepatitis in children?
In January this year, a sudden increase in hepatitis (inflammation of the liver) infection was first detected in children under the age of 10.
The most likely cause of the outbreak is a type of adenovirus called F41, reports the Security Agency Health English (UKHSA), because the common viruses that cause infectious hepatitis (hepatitis A to E) have not been detected.
