Jakarta, Selular.ID – Research firm IDC predicts that shipments for gaming desktops, laptops and monitors will continue to grow, even as the Covid-19 pandemic begins to decline.
“Many have speculated that the easing of restrictions around the world could halt growth in these devices, but we don’t see that,” said IDC analyst Ryan Reith.
IDC in this regard instead projects that gaming PC shipments will increase from 41.3 million in 2020 to 52.3 million in 2025. Similarly, the gaming monitor market is expected to jump from 14.2 million units shipped to 26.4 million during the same period.
Before the pandemic, the PC market stagnated for years as consumers focused on smartphones. The only exception is the PC gaming market, where demand is consistently strong, especially for gaming laptops and monitors.
However, IDC estimates that the average selling price for gaming PCs will increase from $925 (13 million) to $1,007 (Rp. 14 million) in 2025. Meanwhile, the average selling price for monitors is projected to fall slightly, from $339 (Rp. 4.8 million). ) to $309 (Rp4.4 million)
IDC did not explain why the price of gaming PCs could rise. Right now, however, the electronics industry is facing a chip shortage that has historically been bad for vendors, and this crisis is claimed to last until 2023.
Then labor shortages and rising shipping costs also threaten costs to PC makers, leading to price hikes. Consumers have seen this happen in PC graphics card products, which started to increase in price earlier this year.
