After the deaths of three pediatric patients at the RSCM a few days ago, the Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) revealed the alleged addition of cases mysterious acute hepatitisboth in Jakarta and other areas.
However, IDAI pediatrician Hanifah Oswari emphasized that this case was only a suspicion and could not be said to be a case of acute hepatitis which is being discussed.
“I think currently there are reports from Jakarta of additional cases, outside the city there are reports of suspected additional cases. This is still under investigation whether it really fits the criteria for acute hepatitis or not,” explained Hanifah in a joint press conference with the Ministry of Health, Thursday (5/5) .
Previously, three pediatric patients died with suspected acute hepatitis, but the cause was unknown. This allegation arises because the world of global health is being crowded with the emergence of a mysterious acute hepatitis. The symptoms experienced by patients are more or less similar to cases of acute hepatitis.
Three patients are said to have arrived at the RSCM in severe condition and had received treatment in the ICU. However, they couldn’t be helped.
“There is only a few hospitals that take action, three cases are 2 years old, not yet vaccinated (covid-19). Then, at 8 years old, they have only been vaccinated (covid-19) once, and 11 years have been vaccinated (covid-19). All negative covid-19,” explained the Ministry of Health spokeswoman Siti Nadia Tarmizi on a similar occasion.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a mysterious case of acute hepatitis that attacks children in Europe, America and Asia is an Extraordinary Event (KLB).
Separately, the Head of the Makassar City Health Service, South Sulawesi, Nursaidah Sirajuddin, said that she had not found any cases of mysterious acute hepatitis in her area.
However, his party has taken anticipatory steps, including increasing vigilance at the Puskesmas.
“Certainly we have prepared anticipatory measures so that the spread can be quickly intercepted. The health center is already taking precautions now,” said Nursaidah at CNNIndonesia.com.
