“I would rather die than family dignity being abused like this,” he continued.
Therefore, Napoleon immediately revealed that he would file an appeal against the decision.
“I rejected the judge’s decision and filed an appeal,” said the two-star police general.
Meanwhile, the public prosecutor (JPU) admitted that he would first think about the verdict of the panel of judges.
The judge’s verdict was heavier than the prosecutor’s demand that Napoleon be sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 100 million, a subsidiary of 6 months in prison.
In this case, Napoleon is considered proven to have received money amounting to 370,000 US dollars and 200,000 Singapore dollars from Djoko Tjandra through the intermediary Tommy Sumardi.
The panel of judges revealed that the money was given so that Napoleon would provide information regarding Djoko Tjandra’s red notice status at Interpol.
In addition, according to the assembly, bribes were given so that Napoleon wrote to the Directorate General of Immigration so that Djoko Tjandra was removed from the wanted list (DPO) in the system belonging to the Immigration authorities.
With various letters made on Napoleon’s orders, the Immigration authorities removed Djoko Tjandra from the DPO.
Therefore, Djoko Tjandra was able to enter Indonesia in mid-2020 even though he was a fugitive for the corruption case of transfer of collection rights (cessie) Bank Bali.
Napoleon was deemed to have violated Article 5 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 5 paragraph 1 letter a of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.
