Thunderous applause for the show act of the Budo Club Mühlheim
ID judoka inspire 1000 spectators at the evening of sports in the Hessian state parliament
What an honor for the ID judoka (judoka with a mental and/or multiple handicap) of the Budo Club Mühlheim.
At the invitation of the President of the State Parliament Astrid Wallmann, the Hessian Minister of the Interior and Sport Peter Beuth and the Hessian Prime Minister Boris Rhein as well as the Hessian state government and the Hessian state parliament, the ID judoka of the Budo Club Mühlheim took part in the evening of sports in the Hessian state parliament.
And they didn’t just participate.
In front of 1000 invited guests, including Philipp Lahm and Célia Šašić and many representatives of the Sportland Hessen, the ID judoka of the Budo Club Mühlheim showed their skills.
Announced as a show act, the Mühlheim judoka thrilled the audience with falling exercises, throws, holds and techniques from kata. They showed the diversity of their inclusive sport and inspired the expert guests, including the President of the Hessian Judo Association Sven Deeg and the President of the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association Heinz Wagner.
At the end of their performance, the ID judoka had to stay on stage for a long time because the applause from the approximately 1,000 invited guests just wouldn’t stop. A goosebump moment for everyone involved.
After the successful demonstration, the head of the disabled sports department of the Budo Club Mühlheim, Thomas Hofmann, received a donation check of €3,000 from the state parliament president Wallmann, prime minister Rhein and interior minister Beuth in recognition of the long-term and sustainable sports offer for people with disabilities.
Another great recognition of the achievements of the Budo Club Mühlheim with the aim of enabling people with disabilities to participate in sports and thus in “public” life.
After the summer holidays, the ID judoka of the Budo-Club Mühlheim will start their training again.
The ID judoka would be very happy to welcome new people with a disability who are interested in sports from September 5th, 2023, 4 p.m. in the training rooms in Anton-Dey-Str. 60, Mühlheim 1st floor.
