Jakarta –
Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko sued Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) in the aftermath of accusations of promoting the drug Ivermectin and the rice export business. ICW also responded to the summons by providing clarification.
The subpoena to ICW was delivered Moeldoko through his attorney, Otto Hasibuan. The summons was sent last Monday (2/8/2021).
In his subpoena, Moeldoko asked ICW to withdraw the statement and apologize regarding the ‘promotion’ of ivermectin as a Corona (COVID-19) drug.
Moeldoko gave ICW 1×24 hour opportunity to apologize publicly in the media and withdraw the statement regarding the accusation.
If ICW does not apologize or withdraw the statement regarding the findings related to the alleged promotion of Ivermectin and the rice export business, Moeldoko will report ICW to the police. This is because ICW’s statement is considered to have fulfilled the criminal element.
“So if 1×24 hours since press release We convey this to ICW, brother Egi did not prove his accusations and did not withdraw his statement, and did not withdraw his statement, and was not willing to apologize to our client openly, so with great regret of course we will report this case to the authorities,” Otto said at the conference. virtual press, Thursday (29/7).
ICW replies to Moeldoko’s summons
ICW also claimed to have answered the subpoena letter from Moeldoko. ICW clarified a number of things about ICW’s findings entitled ‘The Ivermectin Polemic: Rent Hunting in the Middle of a Crisis’.
“Essentially, we have answered the summons letter from Otto Hasibuan’s colleague, and provided clarification,” said ICW’s lawyer, Muhammad Isnur, when asked for confirmation, Thursday (5/8/2021).
Isnur said that ICW immediately replied to the summons. The letter was sent on Tuesday (3/8).
“We answered within 24 hours after we received the letter from Otto’s colleague,” Isnur said.
Moeldoko hasn’t received a reply yet
Nevertheless, the power of law Moeldoko, Otto Hasibuan, admitted that he had not received a reply from ICW.
“That until now we have not received a reply letter from ICW,” Otto told detik.com, Thursday (5/8/2021).
Otto said that his party had checked directly with the staff regarding the presence or absence of the letter. After checking, he said there was no letter from ICW.
“If there is, when will the letter be replied to and who in our office will receive the letter. Please ask ICW and please show the receipt,” he said.
“So their statement is not true,” continued Otto.
Will Send Second Subpoena
Otto Hasibuan also admitted that he would send a second subpoena to ICW. This second summons will be sent tomorrow.
Otto said Moeldoko gave ICW 3×24 hours to prove his accusation. Previously, ICW was given time to provide evidence for 1×24 hours.
“We give enough time to 3×24 hours. Mr. Moeldoko is very kind, he said that there is enough time. Don’t say we are arbitrary, if 1×24 hours is not enough, we will give 3×24 hours. It’s important that he can prove it or not. Don’t make any accusations,” said Otto at a press conference, Thursday (5/8/2021).
